99bill CEO Guan Guoguang denied the layoff rumor
For the rumor that “99bill is laying off employees”, the 99bill CEO Guan Guoguang yesterday denied this. He said that because there is quite low of electronic payment in China GDP, the 99bill has been little influenced by the financial crisis, so their economy still maintains a rapid growth.

IBM Japan Company will lay off 1,000 people within this year
Before the end of this year, IBM Japan will formally lay off 1,000 employees, which is equivalent to the 6% of its official employees of the total number. The company wants to improve the declining performance of the company through the layoff plan and small and medium business reinforcement.

World Largest Steel Company Arcelor Mittal announced to lay off employees
Following the announcement of output reduction in the fourth quarter, the world largest iron and steel companies Arcelor Mittal announced on Nov.27 that the company would cut down at least 9,000 positions to achieve one billion dollars annual savings, while the layoff number is equivalent to 3% of the total number of company employees. In this layoff plan, there are over 6000 employees being laid off in Europe.

Reuters: Foxconn plans to lay off 1500 employees in Hungary
Because of the decline in orders, Taiwan Hungary plans to lay off 1,500 employees, which is over half of the total number of the company. After the layoffs, Foxconn’s employees in Hungary are only about 1150 .

To cope with the financial crisis, Palm plans to lay off 10% of employees, about 1050 people
In the face of the global slowdown economy and fierce competition from Apple and RIM, Palm has decided to lay off the employees to cut the cost. For that, Palm spokesman Lynn Fox has been given to confirm, but did not announce a specific number of layoffs. But the report claimed that the Palm would lay off 10% of employees, about 1050 people.
