BMW layoffs information: Even if the economic crisis continues, BMW will not carry out layoffs
BMW recently said that even if the current economic crisis has not been improved, BMW will not be any layoffs.

BMW personnel manager Harald Krueger told Reuters, “We recruit frame of reference, including hours work calculation, holidays and the number of natural factors such as demographic changes and mobility.”

To achieve cost reduction objectives, BMW has already laid off 10000 people, and shortening the working hours of in-service workers. The move for BMW to save about 500 million euros of fixed costs. In addition, the estimated new BMW 5 Series GT models of the new company will drive sales growth.

JAL layoffs: JAL intends to cut down 20% of international routes, the layoffs rose to 6,000 employees
According to Japanese media reports, Japan Airlines will substantially reduce 20% of international routes and 30% of the costs in 3 years .

Japan’s Sankei Shimbun reported that Japan Airlines will gradually reduce more than 20 international routes, accounting for 20% of all international routes from next month, the plan will be completed in March 2011, which will cancel 10 routes this year, mainly focuses on the Chinese market.

Kyodo reported that Japan Airlines after the execution of this plan, the company would increase 1000 layoffs, in addition to the previous layoff plan, the number of layoffs for JAL will increase to 6,000 people.

Japan’s NEC plans to close one LCD Factory and lay off 590 people
News on March 9, according to foreign media reports, Japanese NEC said that because of falling demand for liquid crystal displays, the company plans to turn off a liquid crystal display factory in southern Japan, and before 2010, the company will lay off 590 people. Last month, NEC announced that it would layoff 9,500 people and allow 450 Japanese workers for early retirement, lay off 9,000 people overseas, and close some factories and operations. NEC said it would close the factory in Kagoshima before the end of December this year and diversify their production into another Akita Factory. NEC also plans to move part of the functions of Kanagawa headquarters to Akita Factory.
