Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced on 4th, that Australia postponed the implementation of the program of the national carbon trading to start after 1 year and made some adjustments. Australian media believed that this was a compromise made by the ruling Labor Party, which seeked to curb climate change and get support of a number of other parties of the Senate.

Australia approved China Minmetals to acquire Oz Minerals
Australian Treasurer Wayne. Swan (Wayne Swan) Thursday approved the acquisition of China Minmetals Non-Ferrous Metal Company Limited OZ Minerals Ltd. (OZL.AU) in part of the mineral plan. The acquisition plan have been adjusted, based on the original plan. Swan said the decision did not include the flagship OZ Minerals Minerals Prominent Hill, and a number of acquisitions also attached to the enforcement of statutory requirements.

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced on 7th, the government would invest 42 billion dollars (30 billion U.S. dollars), with 8 years to build a nationwide high-speed fiber-optic broadband network. Kevin Rudd said the plan is largest infrastructure project in the history of Australia. The Government will set up a specialized holding company in charge of government construction and operation of the network. Anglo-American media commented that the construction plans broadband would shot two birds with one stone, and play a “boosting the national economy” and ” remodeling the pattern of industry,” of the double effects.
