Sun layoffs: Sun open source project large-scale layoffs for over 3,000 people
At the end of November, thousands of Sun employees receive the message, the company will no longer need their services, and this plan will take effect in January next year. Layoffs were expected for people, but such a large scale lay-offs have far exceeded expectations.

In addition to the normal layoffs resulting from merger – finance, human resources, marketing, promotion – Sun has laid off many employees involved in open source projects, including those directly involved in MySQL, from that point of view, it carries out the performance of Oracle’s commitment to the European Union .

Sun staff involved in open source projects are many, ranging from support engineers and extension workers, until the sales and R & D personnel. A source said that the staff involved as many as 3,000 people.

Oracle did not respond for this.
