AvtoVAZ layoffs: Russia’s largest carmaker announced to lay off 27600 people
MOSCOW, News on September 24, Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ Group, said in a statement on the 24th, due to the economic crisis led to sharp drop in car sales, the company plans to lay off 27600 people, more than a quarter of the total number of employees.

The statement said Group CEO Igor Marko Marof and the trade unions discussed the layoff plan on September 23, decided to cut down the employees from the current 102,000 to 75,000 people.

Ghana Government of has put pressure on Vodafone and ask it to suspend the layoff plans
News on September 18, according to foreign media reports, the Ghana Labor Department Thursday said it had asked Vodafone’s Ghana office to suspend plans to lay off 950 people.

Ghana Labor Department spokesman said: “We have asked management to suspend lay-offs. So as to give more opportunities to increase mutual understanding between employers and employees in order to reach an agreement.” The spokesman said they would consider the outcome of negotiations between employers and employees, in the next the beginning of a ruling on the matter.

BMW layoffs information: Even if the economic crisis continues, BMW will not carry out layoffs
BMW recently said that even if the current economic crisis has not been improved, BMW will not be any layoffs.

BMW personnel manager Harald Krueger told Reuters, “We recruit frame of reference, including hours work calculation, holidays and the number of natural factors such as demographic changes and mobility.”

To achieve cost reduction objectives, BMW has already laid off 10000 people, and shortening the working hours of in-service workers. The move for BMW to save about 500 million euros of fixed costs. In addition, the estimated new BMW 5 Series GT models of the new company will drive sales growth.
