China is currently the largest solar power projects – 200 MW of large-scale desert Golmud in Qinghai Province, and grid-connected photovoltaic power plants, one in 20-megawatt project on the 20th in the Gobi desert on the outskirts of Golmud began.

This project by the China Long Yuan Electric Power Group Corporation Guodian unit investment and construction, a project investment of about 4 billion yuan, the overall project investment will reach 4 billion yuan. This year in May, Longyuan Electric Power Group Corporation and the Golmud city government signed the “200 MW of large-scale desert Golmud in Qinghai Province, and grid-connected photovoltaic power station investment agreement.”

It is reported that a project will put into power in September 2010, the current project, after completion, the annual generation of about 36 million kwh, the annual savings of about 12.5 thousand tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 6067 tons, to reduce dust emissions by about 175 tons .

Golmud City, is located in the Qaidam Basin, the area is vast, solar energy resources are very rich, with an annual sunshine time of 3300 hours or more, is the country’s most abundant sunshine radiation in one of the areas, solar photovoltaic power generation has great potential.
