Chartered Semiconductor has 114 million U.S. dollars in Q4 and plans to re-lay off 600 employees
News on February 1, according to foreign reports, Singapore foundry Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing (Chartered Semiconductor) announced that the company Q4 net loss reached 114 million U.S. dollars, so the company would re-lay off 600 employees.

On the other hand, a more robust network chip maker Broadcom which is considered as stronger physical capital also lost the trend of the global economy, so it also showed a deficit in the further quarter and planed to lay off employees.

Rohm and Haas layoffs and factory shutdown

Rohm and Haas will lay off 900 employees and idle or shut down factories
Specialty chemicals maker Rohm and Haas (ROH) announced that the company would cut down about 900 jobs, which is equivalent to 6% of its total number of staff. Moreover, the company would adjust its operations and cost structure, in response to the current weak market situation. The company also said that this action could lead to about 90 million U.S. dollars pre-tax restructuring charges in its fourth quarter.

Morgan Stanley layoffs

Morgan Stanley considers to further lay off 5% of its employees
According to the Wall Street Journal report, as the market continues to decline and trading and investment banking business is still sluggish, Morgan Stanley is considering carrying at most 5%. The company currently employs a total of 47,000 people.
It is reported that after 7,000 layoffs last year, Morgan Stanley may decide in the next two weeks to conduct a new round of layoffs. Layoffs may involve technology, infrastructure and human resources departments and many other logistical supports. The favor high-risk transactions sectors which no longer subject to regulatory authorities and investors may also have more layoffs.
