Boeing laid off 4,500 employees, which accounted for 3% of the total number
Boeing said January 9, 2009 that in response to the global economic recession and sharply decline of orders, Boeing would lay off 4500 employees in commercial aircraft sector from the beginning of next month, which accounted for 3% of the total number of staff.
Boeing’s aircraft sales volume last year was less than Airbus
The Boeing Company announced yesterday the report on 2008 order and new aircraft delivery, in which the volume of orders and delivery of new aircraft were less than the European Airbus company (Airbus). As the influence of substantial decline in demand, the company received 662 commercial aircraft orders in the whole year, which fell 53 percent year-on-year. The company totally delivered 375 new aircrafts, which fell 15 percent year-on-year and were 62 aircrafts less than Airbus company.
